The golfclub is produced to varying specs to achieve different things , or different ball flights . Golfclub designs are arranged in six types , drivers, irons, fairway woods, hybrids, wedges and putters.
The driver golfclub is supposed to knock the ball the longest distance, normally from the tee . It is the longest golfclub in the golfers bag . They can have a loft of 7 degrees to 14 degrees.
The iron golfclub is meant for middle distance shots, fairway approaches . They are numbered 1 through 9, and have corresponding face loft with the number 1 having the lowest loft, number 9 having the greatest amount of loft.
Fairway woods are designed to drive the ball longer yardages from the fairway toward the green. They can be numbered from 2 through 15, with the higher numbers having additional loft.
Hybrids are special iron designs with additional mass and size. They are intended to replace the longest irons.
Wedges are used for approaching the green . Their high face loft makes it easier to stop the ball on the green.
Putters are used on the green for hitting the ball into the hole.
